A former patient's family was going through files and found this note dated June 2014 for Nurse Mary Ellen. The patient has since passed away.
"After arrival to Good Sam I was taken to the CCU unconscious, which is where I stayed for the next 14 days on a respirator, ventilator. On the 15th day I was awakened to my guardian angel's voice. After seeing all my doctors on follow up visits they all said the same thing; that nurse Mary Ellen would not let them stop and give up. She told them that I was strong and I would pull through. She knew this after spending the time with me all hours of the day or night. Nurse Mary Ellen was right and that is why I am alive writing this nomination for her. Well-deserved DAISY Award."
