My wife of 44 years fell and broke her hip. She is 74 years old and not in the best physical condition. Needless to say, she has been in a state of extreme pain. After going through the emergency room, Xrays determined that she needed immediate surgery and she was admitted and assigned to the joint replacement unit under the care of RN Mary Garcia. As we prepared for movement to a rehab facility, we could not leave without noting what a pleasure it was to be cared for by Mary. We can't express enough how much effort she made to turn this traumatic event into a bearable experience. Mary's unique ability to immediately establish a warm and concerned relationship with the patient is amazing. She truly embodies a gift that cannot be learned. Even though she exudes a confident, deliberate, and professional demeanor, she accomplishes it in such a warm and friendly manner that she always makes you feel that she really cares and understands what you are experiencing and going through.
