While in CCD, I experienced an expressive aphasia attack. Mary Golden took immediate action- calling my neurologist, locating an available MRI (the CCD MRI was unavailable) and running and pushing me in my bed as she navigated the labyrinth of halls to the available MRI. As a result of her efforts, my neurologist was able to quickly diagnose my medical problem and determine appropriate care. I am convinced that without Mary's timely actions, I could have suffered severe, potentially irreparable brain damage.
Further, during my several days in CCD, Mary was exceptionally proactive in anticipating potential problems and taking actions to avert those problems before they occurred. She was a full participant in my medical care team, frequently suggesting additional care options and coordinating my various medical tests and medications.
