Mary accompanied my husband, spoke to the triage nurse, advocated for me and my condition, reassured me, and stayed with me to make sure I received the care I needed.
During a visit to the clinic, it was identified that I had multiple blood clots in my lung and I was transferred to a ward. As my medical condition was complicated due to my kidney transplant and bowel resection 3 weeks prior, I was on high immunosuppressants and was tired after having tests all day; I found it difficult to explain my condition to the triaging nurse.

My husband went to see if anyone in the transplant clinic could explain my condition to the triage nurse, and he found Mary and explained our concerns. We did not expect her to come to the ward with us, but she did – she accompanied my husband, spoke to the triage nurse, advocated for me and my condition, reassured me, and stayed with me to make sure I received the care I needed.

I noticed she helped another transplant patient on the ward in a similar situation. I am nominating this nurse as she was so kind, caring, and compassionate. She was an angel to both myself and another patient that day.

Note: This is Mary's 2nd DAISY Award!
