Jane was one of the many exceptional nurses assigned to care for my mother. My mother was admitted into Seton Medical Center--Williamson on a Wednesday in April to undergo heart surgery. Jane assisted my mother on the day that she was being released from Seton the following Tuesday. There was a delay in the process of her being released due to medical equipment (stationary walker) not arriving. My parents finally decided that they would either borrow one from a relative or return the following day to pick up the walker. Later that same night, around 8:00pm, there was a knock at the door of my parent's home. Much to their surprise stood Jane with the walker that had finally arrived. Jane went off duty at 7:00pm and then drove approximately 20 miles out of her way to my parent's home in Taylor to fulfill a need for my mother. She delivered the walker and visited with them one last time. This act of kindness touched the hearts of my mother and father.
My mother was truly the most giving person that I have ever known. My parents witnessed Jane's passion for her patients at her place of work, but also outside of work. She demonstrates all qualities of an extraordinary nurse. I hope that you will highly consider Jane for the DAISY Award. It would provide our family great comfort if Jane were recognized with the award and it would be one last way to give to others on behalf of my mother the way she always did.
