Mary Jane constantly asked what she could do, always kept me updated on my treatment plan, made me laugh, got to know more about me and my family, and genuinely seemed to care.
I was admitted to the hospital cardiac ward with A-fib. Unfortunately, this happened to me while my daughter was here visiting from Texas and since I couldn't spend time with her while in the hospital and she was looking to go back in a few days I was very disappointed and depressed. From the moment I met Mary Jane, she was terrific. She took the time to get to know me and my situation.
She constantly asked what she could do, always kept me updated on my treatment plan, made me laugh, got to know more about me and my family, and genuinely seemed to care versus going through the motions of just doing her job. She absolutely made my time here more bearable and her care and attitude were tremendous. When the doctors came to see me she would always be present and remind me of questions I had that I forgot to ask before the doctors left. She listened, explained everything, cared, did what she said she would do when she said she would do it and in my opinion is an exemplary example of what a nurse should be and how they should treat their patients. I hope she is recognized and knows she made a difference to me and I'll be forever thankful.
