J was a patient on IMC. While he was in the hospital, we found out his dad was in the ER. J was upset, stressed and worried since he could not be there to immediately support his dad.
At the time, J's nurse was tied up with another patient. Jean overheard what was happening and did not hesitate to step in and address J's feelings. She graciously offered to take J to the ER so he could see his dad. It was so heartwarming, especially since she was not even his nurse. Once the doctor explained what was going on, she stayed with J to make sure he was okay with the news he received. She even spoke to J's dad and asked him to feel better soon.
Although her shift ended, she didn't act like she was in a hurry to get back or was inconvenienced at all. I myself am a nurse so I understand how busy nurses can be. The fact that she took the time to spend the extra minute was huge. We will never forget the way Jean made us feel or what she did for us in our time of need. She was an absolute angel!
