My experience in the Christiana ED was unforgettable. I had been very sick; in and out of the hospital and rehab facility since April 4. I was finally discharged to home on May 8th and on May 10th became sick again. Very anxious and upset I headed back to the ED. That is when I experienced the compassionate care of a very special nurse, Kate Fillingame. Kate is an extraordinary nurse and an angel in my eyes. She was able to calm my fears and provide me with truly exceptional nursing care. Throughout my illness, I came across many excellent and professional nurses but Kate truly shined as the brightest star in my eyes. Not only did she "listen" to what I was saying but she recognized that "something" wasn't quite right and took the appropriate action to proceed in an extraordinary way. Due to her diligence and attention to detail, I was diagnosed with blood clots in both lungs, something that no one else noticed or pursued.

The nursing care that she provided was exceptional. She was kind, caring, professional and always went that extra mile in the care that she provided to me. She had no idea I was an employee till much later during my visit. I had experienced many nurses during my illness but Kate was truly different. Not only is she an asset to the nursing profession but also to Christiana Care Health System.
