Mary Kay is someone who will hold a special place in my life forever. She is someone that has transformed into a dear friend and not just an OB nurse. I had a baby boy. Mary Kay was my labor and delivery nurse. Through the whole L&D process, she was amazing. She had a nurse in training with her, and her compassion for her job was very apparent in both her care of me as well as her role in training.
While my L&D was very routine, after the delivery I experienced some major complications. Mary Kay stayed with me every step of the way. She went with me to have a CAT scan. She was an integral part in the OR. She visited me in the ICU and once I went back to the post-partum area, and again when I moved to the CT floor. Mary Kay baked cookies for my family when I was still hospitalized. When I finally got to go home, she brought my family dinner! Mary Kay has gone above and beyond her regular nursing duties, and I truly believe she helped save my life. God put her in the right place to be a forever friend of our family. She is truly an amazing nurse and person. Without a doubt, she exhibited care and compassion, not only for me - the patient - but for my family as well. She is so deserving of the DAISY Award as she exemplifies exactly what it stands for!
