My husband was admitted to TMH with a heart rate of 147bpm. We had previously been at our hometown E.R. and were referred to TMH. It was a scary time because the doctors were talking about cardioversion, pacemakers, and the like. When Mary started her evening shift, she was a ray of "sunshine". Her beautiful smile and warm personality lit up our gloomy mood. She took her time checking his IV drawing labs, etc. She took the time to listen to my husband talk about his previous heart surgeries which sometimes lasted too long, but she very patiently listened. We looked forward to her coming in each night at 7 pm because she made us feel so much better. When we had to add new medicine and discontinue some old ones, she very thoroughly explained the dosages, the possible effects, and the importance of taking it on time. In addition to these things, she "never" turned the lights on in my face in the middle of the night. This is huge to me as I am always so exhausted staying at the hospital with my husband. She said, "I want to be as quiet as possible so you can rest!" How thoughtful!
We were even more surprised when we found out that she just graduated in Aug 2019. She conducted herself like a seasoned RN.
