This nurse had cared for a critically ill/devastated patient for multiple shifts. The parents ultimately decided to withdraw care of their baby girl. After removing the endotracheal tube, the parents held the patient for a little over an hour and then asked this nurse if they could leave the hospital. Once the parents left the hospital, this nurse took it upon herself to sit in the room and hold the baby for FOUR HOURS until she passed. This nurse’s dedication to patient care shows no bounds. She held the baby, giving her comfort, warmth, reassurance, and love until she passed. She has such a big heart, and she shows it every day with her nursing practice. She exemplifies nursing compassion and truly is a DAISY Nurse.

Me and this nurse had a really tough patient together. We had to withdraw care, and not long after, the parents left. This nurse took the time to make sure the patient was never alone and held her for hours while playing music and talking to them, letting them know they were okay. I was in there with her when I could cause I didn't want her to be alone. This nurse really went above and beyond this day, and I can't even explain how hard it was for me, so I can't imagine being her.
