Mary Kisting, MS, APRN, CCNS, CCRN-K
Mary consistently demonstrates exceptional clinical expertise, leadership, and a deep commitment to advancing patient care, nursing practice, and healthcare outcomes. In her role as a CNS, Mary has made a significant impact across the three spheres of influence: patient care, nursing practice, and organizational systems.
Clinically, Mary is a trusted expert who integrates evidence-based practice into daily care, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of treatment. Her ability to assess complex cases, develop innovative care plans, and mentor staff has led to measurable improvements in patient outcomes.
As a leader, Mary fosters a culture of collaboration, learning, and excellence. She actively supports nursing staff through education, coaching, and role modeling, empowering nurses to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care. Her dedication to professional development is evident in the numerous committees and quality improvement initiatives she has led.
Organizationally, Mary has been instrumental in driving system-level improvements. She has contributed to policy development, implemented evidence-based protocols, and worked across interdisciplinary teams to enhance efficiency and quality of care. Her work has not only improved clinical outcomes but also strengthened the overall healthcare environment.
Beyond her technical skills, Mary embodies the values of compassion, integrity, and advocacy. She is a tireless champion for patients and staff alike, always striving to ensure that care is equitable, patient-centered, and aligned with best practices.
Mary does so much for this hospital and the nurses here. She is a key member of the Professional Practice Council and a driving force behind many of their initiatives, keeping the ball rolling. She always has fantastic ideas for culture change, increasing involvement, and buy-in.
Mary Kisting is the most amazing nurse. Her career spans more than 40 years. While she may be the clinical nurse specialist for the Children's Service line, she is truly so much more to this hospital. She is a patient advocate. She is an evidence-based practice champion. She is the voice for nurse safety. She is a role model and mentor to her fellow colleagues.
Mary always goes above and beyond with her work. She has grown the hospital's Nursing Professional Practice Council into something strong, productive, and purposeful over the last 2 years through her relentless dedication to creating something everyone should be proud of.
She uses her own money to purchase birthday gifts for council members and to ensure snacks are present for every meeting. Her desire to always showcase nurses and the nursing profession in the best light is inspirational.
I don't know if I have ever met a nurse who loves her job and the nursing world as much as Mary. If she is able to help at all, even if it is her scheduled day off, Mary will do it. She is always willing to stay late, come in early, take the phone call, give the advice, and be the helping hand everyone needs.
Thank you, Mary, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
