I had a very busy day between modules, managing patients' pain, bladder irrigation, new g-tube placement and a discharge. I was truly touched and amazed by how sweet, informative and helpful she was. Mary kept coming to me offering help. I had never wasted PCA medication and informed her. She helped me through the steps and educated me without a complaint. I knew she was busy, yet she took time to double check on my patient when I asked for help. She covered me for lunch and said, 'don't worry about calling the MD for meds, I will do it for you' (no one has ever offered to do this for me before, on any unit). When I came back from lunch, she had already given the medication and got another order for my patient. For the rest of the day, I was just in shock at how sweet and helpful she was. She is honestly one of the most pleasant, helpful RNs, I have encountered.
