For my child, being in emergency, meeting new people, hearing other children screaming and crying can be an overwhelming and scary experience. Luckily Mary Lou was on duty stepped in to calm the nerves of my son. She is highly skilled, extremely knowledgeable, and has exceptional listening and speaking skills. We stayed in ED more than 12 hours, she stayed with us all her shift, even she informed us that she wanted to go on break and introduced the nurse who is going to cover her; she has always embodied a spirit of kindness and responsiveness to our needs, no matter the request, she reassured us, and carried us through a truly distressing and scary night .She went above and beyond to support us so when assigned Doctor was busy in the resuscitation area, she went to find another Doctor and asked him to step into my son’s room to make sure he is ok. Thank you, Lou, for all that you did for us and for the compassion and dedication you showed.
