August 2019 Honoree
mary nguyen 2019, RN
Mary, our inpatient nurse, befriended myself and my wife and spent over 30 minutes giving us a tutorial concerning the effects of water in older persons. I am an 85-year-old and no one, not even doctors or other medical personnel, has ever explained the effects of overconsumption of water at an older age. Mary should have been a teacher!
I was admitted to the emergency clinic and transferred to an adjacent hospital room for overnight observation since the admitting doctor could not locate a problem. And then we had the tutorial by Mary about the overconsumption of water at an elderly age and the effect on the heart! The preceding week I had resumed drinking lots of water, as I had always done all my life, and this overconsumption resulted in heart overloading in shortness of breath. So, I have Mary to thank for limiting me to one liter of water per day and preventing overload of my heart.
