Mary had been closely monitoring a patient on IMCU. At 2330 the patient coded. After multiple rounds a pulse was obtained but the patient was not doing well. While providers were speaking with the family, Mary was holding the patient’s hand and talking to her as if they were having a conversation.

She continued to do so until the patient passed away. The family was not able to make it in time, but they were so thankful for the compassion Mary showed their loved one. It gave them comfort knowing the patient did not die alone.
