I was working that evening in the Cancer Center as a sitter, when I came into work I had a slight headache. I kept thinking it would get better, but it didn’t. I remember making it to the nurse’s station to see if I could go home, by then I was shaking, it hurt so bad. I went to see the House Supervisor, Mary Rimer. She told me the only place I was going was to the Emergency Department, she got a wheelchair and took me there herself. She held my hand while the nurse took my vital signs. My BP was somewhere in the 220/160’s. I was in so much pain, I couldn’t even think, but she went out of her way to make sure I was well taken care of. I was a bit scared and I felt like my head was going to drop off my neck. When I needed an angel, she was there. Mary has made an impression in my heart that will stay forever. My Mom died 7 years ago, but that night through Mary’s kind, swift and decisive actions, I felt my Mom’s presence.
