When one of our scheduled patients did not show up, Mary called the patient twice and did not get a response. She then called the emergency contact listed on the chart. The contact was a little upset with the patient as the patient was supposed to pick her up so they could drive together to the hospital for the surgery. The contact then drove over to the patient's home only to find them unresponsive.
When Mary called the contact back to make sure the patient was okay, she found out the paramedics were at the house taking the patient to the hospital. The contact was extremely grateful for Mary's call which prompted her to go to the patient's house.
