Mary Schneider, BSN, RN, OCN
Mary has been my nurse, confidant, comforter, and friend. From the very beginning of treatment, she has warned of experiences to come and how to overcome them with very practical and solid medical solutions. How she can give injections (3 a week for 18 weeks) that do not hurt? My chemo path has been amazing, thanks to Mary.
But there was another incident that makes Mary exceptional. My husband and I both had COVID-19, my cancer treatment was interrupted, my husband did not survive. Mary was touched by my pain and two weeks before Christmas she made heart ornaments from my husband's ties, for my 3 children and 8 grandchildren. Mary works full time, yet she gave her personal time to do something so special. I will forever be grateful for the kindness of this nurse. The Oncology Department is blessed to have a nurse like Mary. The department is bound to grow and receive acclaim when they have nurses like Mary.
