Professor Mary Schuchman is an exceptional educator, nurse, and human being. Because of her diverse background in nursing and her passion for lifelong learning, Professor Schuchman inspires her students in a unique and meaningful way. Professor Schuchman has an expansive and varied nursing career that includes caring for patients across the life span, on several levels of care and many different populations. She has given of herself while working in neurology/neurosurgery, OB, post-partum, pediatric asthma, and allergy care, epilepsy treatment, multiple sclerosis treatment, and has served countless psychiatric patients in very diverse settings. This list is only a small sample of what Professor Schuchman has accomplished in the world of nursing. She is dedicated to the process of forever expanding her skills as a nurse and educator in order to better serve her patients and students. This wealth of knowledge and hands-on patient care experience is what makes her such a passionate and effective educator and one of the many attributes I admire most in her. She inspires me as a student to provide compassionate, ethical, patient-centered and evidence-based care to every individual I will have the privilege of serving in my own nursing practice. Professor Schuchman works tirelessly as she helps bring the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program to life at Regis University. She is blazing a trail for all of her students as we learn and grow in our capacity to care for the underserved mental health population while instilling in us the values of reflection, gratitude, and civility that she is valiantly committed to in her own practice. I have been the beneficiary of Professor Schuchman's devotion to her work and passion for making the world a better place to live in one patient and student at a time. I admire her immensely and feel overwhelming gratitude that such an exceptional nurse, educator, and human being is available to me as I learn and grow as a provider.
