Mary Sinson, BSN, RN
My birth experience was absolutely traumatizing at this hospital. Not only was I in labor for almost 40 hours, but I almost lost my life during my C-section. What was supposed to be a happy time in my life turned into a nightmare where I almost lost my life.
Leading up to my C-section, which wasn’t planned, Mary was so amazing at keeping me at ease, talking me through my epidural, and her aura was just so calming. The fact that she was singing along to my Christian music was so nice and gave me a sense of peace. I went through so many hours of labor and was sad to know she would be going home that night, and I still hadn’t had my baby because I wanted her to be there to talk me through it.
Unfortunately, a C-section was needed, and I was all smiles before heading into the OR. It was then that I was in and out of consciousness, rushed to IR and then the ICU, and finally told that I almost lost my life. It was all such a blur.
Being in the ICU was not on my labor bingo card, and one day while I was there, Mary came to check on me. When she got word of what had happened to me, she made sure to visit me not only in the ICU but also postpartum. The fact that she took the time to come all the way up to each floor to check on me was just so heartwarming because everything I had gone through really left me not feeling like myself.
You can tell that she’s a nurse who absolutely loves what she does. Although my experience wasn’t the best, she has always continued to stick out in my mind, and I am so thankful that she was a part of my experience, even if it wasn’t what I had planned. I’ll never forget her.
