Now I know why both my grandfather and grandmother felt at home on the third floor.
My grandmother, "K.H.," who recently passed away, spent the last seven months on the 3rd floor. I was out to visit in May of this year. It broke my heart because I knew my grandmother's health was declining. I called every day and got updates on my grandmother. So Mary, well, actually, all of the nurses on the 3rd floor were amazing. They took the time to answer my calls and give me updates. My grandfather was also on the 3rd floor before he passed away in 2004. When it became hard for my grandmother to communicate, hear or talk, Mary went above and beyond. I reached out to Mary and asked her to pass along a message to my grandmother. I wanted her to know that she had become a great, great grandmother. I sent Mary a picture to show her. Mary also took the time to help both me and my grandmother 'face time' over the phone. My gram didn't really know how she was able to see and hear me through the phone, but her smile said it all. That meant so much to me as my grandmother's time was fading. I just want to express my gratitude and let Mary know she truly is an angel. She didn't have to go above and beyond, yet she did. Now I know why both my grandfather and grandmother felt at home on the third floor. Mary made them feel like they were still home with family, and I will never ever forget those moments. God bless you, Mary. Forever grateful.
