Mary runs the unit with grace and makes a hard job look easy.
Mary goes above and beyond daily to ensure everything runs smoothly. Not only does she coordinate with all of the doctors and schedulers, but she has expertly stepped up and performed the job of 5 people, as our manager and secretary positions are currently empty. There have been multiple times that Mary has caught an issue and corrected it before it affected the patients, from fixing mistakes with how cases are scheduled to coming up with solutions to problems that arrive during a case. Our unit would be nothing without her; she is the most deserving nurse of The DAISY Award I have ever met. -RN

Mary digs deep into the chart of each patient on the ASU surgery schedule to ensure that the patient receives the best care possible. Mary does this not only for the patient but to help us, the staff nurses, provide care in a fast-paced environment. Mary jumps in during times of low staffing to help by cleaning, scrubbing, or circulating. -RN

Mary is the charge nurse of the Ambulatory unit in the OR. She consistently gives herself to the unit. She is sometimes the only person who is able to break the rooms and always puts others before herself. She has so many years of experience in this hospital, and it shows. She runs the unit with grace and makes a hard job look easy. When doing the schedule, she is open and honest, and you know that she is always thinking about how the things she does impact the staff. For me, she has always been open to collaboration and trying to make this unit a great place to work. We have worked on staffing and scheduling together, and she always thinks about how things will impact the unit. She is everything a DAISY Nurse Leader is supposed to be, and I am so happy to have her as someone to collaborate with and look up to. -Manager
