March 2018 Honoree
mary sue crimmins, RN, CN-BN
Mary Sue in the Breast Center was so helpful with my sister with Down's Syndrome. She had a malignant nodule and during the work-up and in preparation for surgery Mary Sue organized consistent and kind physicians and caregivers (nurses and techs) to provide support and familiar faces. She went to the group home twice to do appropriate pre-op teaching and to make herself known so that my sister would feel she had a friend going back to surgery. She has experience with her own relatives and simplified teaching. I was surprised to hear my sister recite a few sentences she has learned. Mary Sue gave her a small gift of a stuffed squirrel beanie baby the morning of surgery. She visited when my sister had to be admitted after surgery for respiratory complications.
Thank you, Mary, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
