“Mary Sue Elliott consistently employs excellence in clinical judgment. Her mastery of nursing skills and nursing know-how allows her to manage care toward the best outcome possible. She consistently employs astute and thorough assessment skills in diagnosis and monitoring of the patient. She is the nurse who consistently will catch those subtle things that others miss.

Mary Sue functions as a helper, teacher/preceptor and coach, all while creating a climate for healing. Parents recognize her genuine care and involvement; she offers reassurance and builds trust as she delivers tender, loving care and comfort to the baby and his/her family.

Mary Sue employs clinical inquiry and systems thinking through forward-looking problem recognition. Her focus is on safe passage for the patient and she provides the expert clinical assessment that is so crucial to patient safety and recovery. She is very attentive to the patient’s needs through her nursing intuition and diagnosis, offering a fluid response and intervention.

Through skillful engagement and respectful relations with others, she demonstrates an ability to respond and supervise well; it is obvious to all staff that her commitment is steadfast toward excellence in clinical and care nursing practice.
