Mary Sue was my wife's nurse. She was amazing from start to finish. She made the most difficult day in our lives bearable. While I will be forever grateful for her clinical skills, it was her emotional support that was above and beyond.

Mary Sue held my wife's hand and cried with us. She stayed well after her shift was over to be with us, support us, and assist with anything and everything we needed. I felt as though my wife was being cared for by a family member, not just some generic nurse at a hospital. It is rare you can sense someone genuinely cares for you and your well-being. This extraordinary young woman cares deeply and needs to be recognized. Being a nurse and having to deal with people like us losing their children is not easy. Often times we detach ourselves in an attempt to lessen the emotional burden of this job. Mary Sue embodies the care and compassion every nurse should have. She represents everything the DAISY Award stands for.
