As a student in Saint Mary’s College’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program, her innovation project focused on home oxygen fires. Through her research, she identified significant gaps in coding and data collection and advocated for improved electronic health record accuracy. These advancements will enhance data precision, drive meaningful research, inform policy changes, and support the development of targeted interventions to reduce these life-threatening incidents. The impact of her work is already being recognized at the national level, with her findings accepted for dissemination at prestigious national and international nursing conferences. As a result of her scholarly contributions, she was also presented with The Madeleva Award, the highest award that Saint Mary’s College confers upon a graduate student. After graduation, Mary is hoping to plant her roots in a clinic where she can advocate for women and their reproductive health needs.
