After a long busy day, it was finally time to go home, well almost, one more patient had to be discharged. Mary decided to help her coworkers out and discharge a patient who had to be at a pharmacy by a certain time. After patiently explaining lengthy discharge instructions to an elderly and hard of hearing patient, the patient was ready to go home. Mary asked the patient's elderly wife to bring the car around to the main entrance. This is when Mary discovered that the patient's wife was parked at 10 Prospect Street. Due to the time, the catwalk was closed, it was dark and now snowing. Mary took the time to personally escort the elderly family member to her car at 10 Prospect Street to ensure her safety. A follow up call was made to the patient the day after discharge and the patient's family could not be more thankful for Mary going "above and beyond" for her patient.
