My son was brought to 15 West Tower from the PICU with his mouth full of sores and he was agitated and dilated from a withdrawal. He did not let anyone touch him or even come close to his mouth. However, Mary was able to calm him down enough that he trusted her to let her touch him. She took really good care of his mouth such that he looked completely different from when we walked in here. She made sure to clean and moisturize his mouth every two hours. He looks so amazing. We didn't think we would be able to go home for the holidays but because of Mary's exceptional care, we will be celebrating Christmas at home. She gave us the best Christmas gift ever. We had a rough night with the night nurse and as Mary introduced herself, I jumped right into venting. I got what I needed off my chest and Mary listened without hesitation and without judgment. She said, "We are going to have a good day!" I knew then that she is a nurse that displays class and professionalism. This nurse is knowledgeable, funny, and so awesome! She has helped us through many failed IV's. She kept a great schedule with meds and understood our concerns. We are originally from Ohio and we not expecting this stay, but Mary made us feel at home and gave us a few laughs through our stay. By far the best experience we have had. Mary is awesome!
