Last night, we had a single mother who had broken her foot and was placed in a splint. She needed to be on crutches to help her heal. The patient was very stressed, stating that she only had $2 to her name and would be unable to obtain crutches, which are around $30 to rent. The patient's nurse came and asked me what we should do. Mary, without hesitation, opened her wallet and pulled out her debit card. Mary said, "I will have Security go to Dillon's and get the crutches for the patient. It's not something that she should have to worry about." This patient was able to get the care that she needed because of Mary's generosity, selflessness, and compassion. This is just one example of the amazing nurse that Mary is every single shift. Wesley and our community are so blessed by Mary.
