...I cannot tell you the kindness that echoes through the halls from her lips to her patients when she is their caregiver. I hear Mary speaking so amiably and offering her help to her patients. She is so conscientious and selfless and sincerely devoted to the interests and needs of her patients. It does not matter how busy she is or how many medications that she has to pass out or any of the many time constraints placed on her by the task oriented world that the nurse lives in. Mary is that rainbow in the cloud that may be hanging over that patients head. Mary talks to her families on the phone and in the rooms as many times as they want and with a level of consideration that makes her so well loved by the families.

There are also the times that Mary has nursing students with her and I listen to her taking her time and teaching the student how to obtain the medications and check them and perform patient care. Her tone is never obstructive or demeaning. She is so sincere in her teaching that the student has only more confidence in her fidelity to Mary. Mary will help anyone. When Mary is working and she sees another nurse on the unit in distress or overload, Mary will go to her and ask, 'Tell me something that I can do to help you.' And Mary's attitude when she does this is oozing loyalty. Mary will drop everything to help the person in need including the ACP's and HUC's .

Mary's expertise, precision, honesty and integrity for the job that she does makes her an excellent candidate for the DAISY Award. She is true, faithful and obligated in a legitimate manner. She sincerely loves Baptist. Mary is one of the most unpretentious people that you will ever meet.
