Mary is a role model for professional nursing as exemplified by her commitment to the missions of teaching, scholarship, and service.
I want to recognize Mary for her contribution to mentoring her colleagues by providing a two-day workshop on preparing for the CNE exam. She provided a 2 day workshop in June and plans to hold another one in December and took additional time to submit the activity for CEUs. This is a national workshop she held without charge for her OHSU colleagues and volunteered her personal time, she is passionate about mentoring nurse educators. She inspired her students in this workshop to motivate them to pursue certification. Mary has also presented at the OCNE May meeting on this certification supporting her OCNE colleagues throughout the state. Mary is an outstanding member of our SON and I am lucky to have her as a faculty with RNBS. Mary is a role model for professional nursing as exemplified by her commitment to the missions of teaching, scholarship, and service. She has been an active contributor and leader of several initiatives to improve learning activities in the courses she teaches as well as co-chairing the RNBS curriculum committee with collaborative improvements made in the overall RNBS curriculum and evaluation methods. Mary has also published her educational research and graciously shares her expertise in continuing education for educators (nationally and regionally). As RNBS clinical coordinator and faculty, Mary demonstrates her compassion and understanding of our students as she consistently advocates for individual students related to clinical placements and by focusing on excellence through learner-centered teaching and learning strategies. Mary is an enthusiastic and caring person, she works hard, is a team player, and has a communication style that encourages a kind and collaborative working environment.
