July 2026 Honoree
Maryann B. Gorosin, BSN, RN
I am pleased to nominate Maryann Gorosin for the DAISY Award. Maryann exemplifies the highest standards of nursing mentorship through her exceptional rehabilitation expertise, compassionate leadership, and unwavering commitment to fostering both professional excellence and a supportive nursing culture.
As PPS Coordinator, Maryann brings extraordinary depth of rehabilitation nursing knowledge, seamlessly integrating clinical practice with regulatory standards and documentation integrity. She mentors nurses to understand how thoughtful, accurate documentation captures the complexity of rehabilitation nursing, reflects sound clinical judgment, and supports patient progress and outcomes. Maryann consistently helps staff connect rehabilitation principles such as functional gains, interdisciplinary goal alignment, and therapy carryover to clear, meaningful nursing documentation that truly tells the patient’s story.
Maryann served as the Rehab Unit Shared Governance Unit-Based Council Chair, where she amplified the nursing voice and strengthened professional practice through collaboration, education, and advocacy. In this role, she guided nurses to recognize the value of their unique contributions within the rehab continuum, empowering them to speak confidently, advocate for optimal practice, and participate actively in shared decision-making that impacts both nursing culture and patient care.
As a nurse mentor, Maryann has supported and guided numerous new hires and new graduate nurses, helping them transition into practice with confidence and purpose. She is particularly adept at helping emerging nurses “find their nursing voice,” coaching them to advocate for patients, navigate complex rehabilitation needs, and document care in alignment with best practice and PPS standards. Her mentorship is thoughtful, approachable, and grounded in real-world experience, making her a trusted resource and role model.
Beyond clinical excellence, Maryann has had a profound and heartfelt impact on unit morale and culture through the development of the Random Acts of Kindness Award on the Rehab Unit. This initiative reflects Maryann’s deep belief that compassion, recognition, and human connection are foundational to nursing practice. By intentionally recognizing acts of kindness among staff, she created a meaningful way to celebrate empathy, teamwork, and caring behaviors that often go unnoticed. This award has strengthened unit cohesion, reinforced positive behaviors, and fostered an environment where nurses feel valued, seen, and inspired.
Maryann consistently models respect, kindness, collaboration, and professional integrity. Her ability to blend rehabilitation expertise, mentorship, documentation excellence, and genuine compassion has elevated nursing practice and strengthened both staff engagement and patient-centered care.
Maryann Gorosin’s dedication to mentoring peers, enhancing rehabilitation nursing practice, and cultivating a culture of kindness makes her exceptionally deserving of recognition. Her influence continues to resonate through the nurses she mentors, the culture she helps shape, and the patients who benefit from her unwavering commitment to excellence.
