Let me start by saying MaryAnn you saved my mother’s life. MaryAnn's first night with my mom was the day she was admitted. During bedside handoff she connected with my mother in a way that gave me peace of mind knowing my mother was in good hands and I could go home in peace. Unfortunately the next day my mother’s condition changed and MaryAnn immediately noticed it and communicated it to mom’s team. She was rushed to have brain surgery that night. I thought I was losing my mother. She hugged me and told me to trust the surgeons and that my mom was in good hands. As a patient Ambassador for Children’s Memorial Hermann that is one thing I tell our parents, is to trust our team and that we are here for them. That night hearing MaryAnn tell me this, now I can say that words matter, words give comfort, and nurses like MaryAnn save lives. Thank you.
