Being in the profession that we are in, we are privileged to help those who are in need by using our critical thinking skills. This job that we have comes with many responsibilities and at times, it can be overwhelming to manage said responsibilities in critical situations. This past Saturday we had a sick baby who needed immediate care. The intervention that this patient needed became emergent as we were having trouble getting him stabilized. Although not being on call and not obligated to answer her phone, Mary answered a call from her co-worker who needed assistance with the ongoing situation we were having in our procedure. Mary offered her help and came in on her off day to help a patient in need. Not only is Mary selfless and dedicated to providing great nursing care, but she is genuinely a great person! Because of her knowledge, kindheartedness, selflessness, and dedication, the patient’s outcome was a successful one. I am in awe of the nurses that I am privileged to work alongside, and I am thankful for Mary, for being a team player and helping us in a time of need. Thank you, Mary, for being a true example of what it means to live compassionately and lead tirelessly!
