We all felt like Zena was a part of our family.
My 80-year-old mom was recently brought by ambulance to the ER at Ascension St. Vincent Carmel. She could not use her arms or legs and was very weak. Sudden onset and very scary for her and for her family. Our care in the ER was also excellent but Zena was so amazingly attentive and kind in keeping my mom and also my husband and me up to speed on every aspect of her care. She was very encouraging and motivated my mom to work toward her return to home. She made us feel like my mom was her only patient in spite of the fact she was caring for patients throughout the wing. By the time the doctor released my mom to go home (with us for a few days), we all felt like Zena was a part of our family. She engaged the therapist and others- always checking in on my mom and her progress.

My husband and I have both worked for many years in various aspects of the healthcare system. We have seen many parents and siblings go through hospital crises and we wanted to applaud the quality of care that Zena exemplified in every interaction. She is an amazing nurse and human being. My husband and I have also recently returned to Westfield and have had great interactions with various St. Vincent doctors at the Carmel facility. Many thanks!
