Mat was my nurse when I had my first surgery ever. I remember that I was so nervous that I couldn’t stop shaking or crying. Even though I was still nervous, when Mat came in, he really helped me. I don’t know why but I thought that everyone in the OR was going to be super serious and scary, but Mat was absolutely not that. He was so friendly, nice, and supportive and he definitely made the whole thing seem way less scary. He also told me it was totally normal to be scared, and that it was going to go great. Once we actually had to leave the room to go to the OR, I got really emotional because I didn’t like that my mom wouldn’t be with me. I’m so happy Mat was the one who brought me though, because even though I was super scared, he was still so nice and he just talked to me normally. I think he asked me what sports I played and if I liked school, and that helped so much because I felt normal and it was easier to not freak out about the surgery when my mind was on something else.  I got super emotional in the OR because there were a lot of people and it was pretty scary, however, he kept talking to me and was super calm, and he made me feel like it was going to be ok. I really appreciate how nice he was, and he really did help me through surgery because he helped me not be so scared of it happening. Thank you, Mat!
