The patient stated right from the start, Matt made an impact on her with the exceptional care, communication, and compassion he presented. The patient said at the beginning of his shift Matt was sent down to the emergency department for help for the first 1-1.5 hours of his shift. The patient stated Matt was very calm and assured her they would get through this together. The patient said Matt was constantly picking up items off of the floor, moving her food tray, and other tasks most people would not want to do without hesitation. The patient said Matt was an exceptional listener and very articulate in his speaking. The patient said when she thanked him for providing such great care, Matt responded by saying ‘I love my job. I know I’m helping people and can see how I’m making a difference’. The patient continued to speak of how Matt truly checked on her every hour and made the patient as comfortable as she could be. The patient said Matt was a ‘total wow’ and at no point did she sense a shortage/crunch of staff from Matt or see he was being overworked. The patient said she wants to recognize Matt because she knows if he made such a positive impact in her life, he has had to do the same in others’ lives as well. The patient said it is a gift that Matt was so spectacular all of the time.
