Matt Muehlbrad, BSN, RN in PACU stepped up to the plate to make a grieving family's last moments with their child a little more bearable.

Recently the OR night shift did a Lifegift case on a child. The family wished to view and hold the child post organ harvest. This case would not be complete until late morning, really close to shift change and the beginning of the day's scheduled cases. This left us no options for viewing in the OR. So I contacted Matt in PACU to see if he would be willing to let us use one of his isolation rooms for the viewing. He not only allowed us to use it, but while recovering multiple patients, he moved a couch, some comfortable chairs and a dim lamp into the room to make the viewing as comfortable and pleasant as possible. He truly went above and beyond to help this grieving family during their devastating loss.

This is just one example of how Matt goes above and beyond for his patients and their families every day. He exemplifies "Service is Our Passion" bringing a special measure of compassion to the night shift in PACU. Thank you Matt for providing our patients and their families with excellent care!
