I came in through the Emergency Room with a severely ruptured appendix. The surgery went well and in a short time, I was up in my room to begin my recovery. The pain post-surgery was beyond description, so pain management was paramount. My night nurse Matt Paningbatan gave me a feeling that I was going to be in good hands, and I was.
Although having other patients to attend to, Matt made me feel as if I was the only one. It's a real skill to be able to give that feeling to someone and probably in few places is it more important and necessary for healing than a hospital.
I was lucky to have Matt as my RN and during that time we were able to connect further having similar interests in camping and travel. I found Matt to be an excellent nurse. He is competent, earnest, caring, and connecting.
Matt has all the qualities one needs to make an exceptional nurse. He showed empathy, was understanding, conscientious, and explained all procedures thoroughly, so there would be no surprises. He worked well with all the other nurses and made my stay more pleasant.
