Matt always takes excellent care of patients in the MICU. He is a patient advocate when his patients are experiencing pain, deterioration in health status and any emotional/psychosocial distress. Matt creates a calm and relaxed environment that promotes healing. He is extremely knowledgeable and educates his patients, family members and also staff members of the MICU. Matt is an inspiration to many in the MICU and a valuable resource. He helped precept me for a couple nights and is always available and willing to help me out (a new nurse) and the other new/experienced nurses as well. He demonstrates exceptional leadership abilities. He not only works well with staff members, patients, and families but also the other disciplines such as the residents and respiratory therapist. He keeps a positive attitude no matter how stressful the situation gets, especially in the MICU. He uses his wisdom, creativity, and dedication to be the awesome nurse he is to everybody! He deserves the DAISY award.
