Matt is very friendly with superior bedside manners. But beyond that, he showed his expertise. He was so attentive, he noticed my husband was quickly decompensating. He was quick to get the docs on board which was huge. But what made him special to me was that while he was doing everything my husband needed, he took the extra time to make sure I was ok. I feel like, too often, medical professionals are so focused on the patient that they don’t consider the family members and the emotional state they are in from what they are seeing. Matt was professional, compassionate, and very caring, all while maintaining a positive affect. At one point, another med tech was in the room talking about some frustration about ordered cultures that hadn’t been taken. Matt was quick to cut him off, saying something to the effect of “his wife is already frustrated enough. Let’s not give her any more reason”. Again, he was taking so good care of me as he was my husband. After moving to the ICU, Matt came to check on us later, even the next day. Matt, thank you for your professionalism, your jovial demeanor, your smile, and your positivity for caring not only for my husband but for me and for going above and beyond. You are a Rock Star!
