Matt deserves all the recognition available to him for his patience, good disposition, and extraordinary work ethic.
During my husband’s stay, I have repeatedly seen Matthew Dowell go out of his way to provide extraordinary care and compassion to my husband. I’ve felt safe leaving during periods of the day knowing Matt was there. Matt is treating my family well as if they were his family. Matt deserves all the recognition available to him for his patience, good disposition, and extraordinary work ethic.

My brother is very ill. His nurse, Matt, was very kind and gentle with him. He shared his compassion and concern for him. He would talk to him and engage in conversation with him, knowing my brother’s mental state was altered. He gave my brother excellent care. He checked on him frequently. He informed us and my sister-in-law about every step of care given and the process or procedures. Matt is an asset to Torrance Memorial Hospital.

This is my father’s second visit to Torrance Memorial. Both times, he initially came in with periods of confusion. This time around, Matt treated my dad with respect and dignity. Up until two months ago, my dad was completely independent and ambulatory. His sudden and rapid decline has been a big hit to my father’s self-esteem. Matt treated my dad the way I would want someone to. His patience allowed us to focus on other, more pressing matters because we felt my dad was safe with Matt. He was knowledgeable, caring, and the prime example of an exemplary nurse. Thank you!
