Matthew always demonstrates a kindness that all patients find comforting. When Matthew was awarded the DAISY Award his first response was, "I never care for patients alone. This award belongs to my team." Matthew has been repeatedly recognized by his patients as a nurse that clearly communicates and explains all care in language that can be understood. The patients call him kind, warm, and friendly. The patients call Matt "an expert in care". Matthew not only cares for his patients using the team approach, but he also organized and Chairs the New Nurse Support Group. Matt recognizes the adjustment that all new nurses need. Matt, a new nurse himself, organized the support group in efforts to improve and re-design orientations or internships as needed. Matt is a DAISY nurse who cares for his patients and for his peers.
