My sister was a patient at your BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel. Everything about the care Matthew provided to my sister exemplifies the word extraordinary. Throughout my life of almost 60 years, I have interacted with numerous medical professionals at some of the best medical facilities in the world. My wife, and I agree that we have never had the pleasure to interact with a nurse with finer skills than Matthew. Matthew is truly the Michael Jordan of nursing, a person with extraordinary skills who elevated the level of my sister's care to amazing heights. The combination of medical and communication skills combined with a compassionate can-do attitude make Matthew truly special. When the doctors would do their rounds Matthew played a critical part in those conversations, relaying important information to the doctors in a transparent and helpful manner for all of us including the doctors.

My sister was in a lot of pain and was sometimes delirious due to her pain medications but Matthew'sability to listen to and connect with her even in her delirium was truly miraculous. Even between painful treatments, Matthew's competent caring nature would bring a smile to my sister. Matthew should be teaching other nurses how to provide the level of competent connected care to patients that clearly comes so naturally. I am literally crying with gratitude as I write this nomination. Matthew is a nurse of immense impact. It was one of my sister's wishes that I nominate Matthew for this award and I am so happy to be able to honor her wishes in this manner as the nursing world desperately needs more nurses like Matthew. We will never forget Matthew or what he did for my sister.
