My family was going through the darkest time in our lives when we met Matt. I was diagnosed with a deadly GI disease, and it seemed like my survival was unlikely. Matt saved us. I mean that in every sense. Physically, he saved me, and I would not be alive without him. But also emotionally, he guided us through everything. Matt is not only the best nurse I have ever met, but the best human being as well. He taught me the meaning of selflessness and unconditional love. He empowered me to survive the impossible and follow my dreams. Matt loves his patients like his own family, and his devotion is inspirational. He absolutely lives for being a nurse. Matt put my life on a completely different path: one where love wins, one where magic is real, where dreams come true, and where kids survive diseases that should have killed them. Matt made me realize that I was no longer standing alone and that he was there to fight with me. All of his patients absolutely love him and fight harder because of the way he inspires us. As far as I'm concerned, if I were to grow up with even half of the talent and character Matt has, I would have been extremely successful. Matt will forever be the hero in my story, no matter how many years go by.
