Matt was nominated by a patient's daughter, due to the extreme care and compassion he provided the patient. This daughter was aware that her father was dying. He was becoming increasingly fragile and weak. Matt was attentive and listened to the patient's and family's needs, advocating for them when necessary.

"I could tell that Matt saw my dad for who he truly was and connected with him on that level, and I think that is one of the qualities you have to possess when working in patient care."

As the patient's final hours drew nearer, Matt took it upon himself to help plan a date night for this patient and his wife. He used sheets as tablecloths and took Valentine's decorations from the nurses' station to decorate the table. That was the last meal this patient and his wife shared together. He passed away the next day. the patient's daughter is forever grateful for Matt's care during this time. We'd like to thank Matt and congratulate him on this very special DAISY Award.
