Just a note of appreciation and thank you for the care my husband received in the ICU after his liver resection surgery. My husband has an unspoken respect for veterans and felt a bond between himself and Matt. They enjoy the same sense of humor and traded jokes between themselves. My husband said most people don’t get me or my humor, but “Matt gets me.” It was nice to see the mood lightened by laughter. Matt also took the time to speak and explain what was going on to my children. He treated my husband with such kindness and respect. He said, “I’ve got you,” when my husband was so uncomfortable in his bed, and Matt rearranged his pillows just right. I still get tears thinking about it. He took the time to see who you are as a person and not just a patient. Thank you for being there for us.
