Nurse Matthew Vander Steeg was an exceptional nurse for my son when he had surgery. He greeted us at 6 am with his warm smile and positive attitude. He kindly explained everything to us and made sure that my son and I felt comfortable and understood everything. He made both of us feel at ease and checked on us multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed before my son went in for his surgery. In addition, Matthew called me after my son’s procedure to let me know everything went well and that I could return to his room. When I arrived at my son’s room, I saw how Nurse Matthew was so kind and patient with my son. He made sure my son had some snacks to eat and was feeling ok. He patiently explained how to take care of my son at home and also had me practice with the drain tubes. He even took a call and explained to the person that he was still with a patient and went right back to helping us. We never felt rushed to get out of the Surgery Center. He made us feel like we were important and gave us his full attention. Thank you, Nurse Matthew, for taking such great care of my son. We were both a bit nervous that day, but you made our experience so wonderful. Thank you for your love and compassion for your patients. We feel so lucky that you were our nurse! You are excellent at what you do and thank you for touching our lives in such a positive way! You are definitely one of the very best nurses I’ve ever met!
