Matthias' Nominator shared the profound impact that he had on her not only as a patient but as a vulnerable young girl who was scared and going through a very hard diagnosis. She said that even on the hardest days in the hospital, Matthias made her smile and eased her fears. This patient, skeptical about continuing her own education in healthcare, said Matthias encouraged her to pursue her passion. She also encouraged him to face his fears and go on a cruise! As we presented this award to Matthias, it was clear not only the impact he had on this patient, but also the positive energy and compassion he brings to his co-workers every single day.
